Morning all. I’ve been using BeerSmith Mobile with debatable results (most likely user error) I’ve downloaded Brewfather and I’m starting to get my head round it. what are other folks using and any tips?
I have a robo brew / Angel/Devil brew ( there all the same thing ), I think the GF had a lot of bells and whistles that you dont need, they can be usefull but for the price I went with a robobrew. The robobrew's a great little system., I find the efficiency's are in the 60 - 65 range I cant get it any higher than that, I find a lot of efficiency in the sparge which you dont do with these systems, But that make's the brew day shorter so its swing's and roundabouts.
I’m mashing with a HLT and a cool box with a manifold / filter and tap on it. I got a stuck sparge on a NEIPA a while back and I’ve used a brewing bag in there too since which allows me to mill a little finer and up the efficiency. I’ve seen your set up, it’s more like a micro brewery ! what do you do with batches that big?
For me it’s getting the consistency. To be able to brew it on demand. I’ve brewed this IPA twice and it’s been really good bit variable my process isn‘t as consistent as I want it to be. I’m still getting to grips with controlling stepped infusion mashing, although the last two brews have been getting better.
We need to get enough West Cumbrian homebrewers together to start our own comp, then you can judge and I can compete problem solved!
Belgian and British are prob the beers I know the least, and recommendation receipes? I’ve brewed a bunch of IPAs a few lagers and one wheat beer so far. I’m trying to perfect a juicy IPA recipe at the moment, I’ve brewed it three times and they were great but I want to get it better. You entered any competitions before ? This is something I’m thinking about next.
I’m prob over thinking it tbh. I’ve had some really good brews that said. I’ve got a Helles on tap at The moment I’m really enjoying. What‘s your poison?

What do you make of these all in one systems Pesh? Been thinking about it at some point. the grainfather seem to get a good following?
I do 45L at at time, then split them down to ferment then most of my beer get kegged these days, so theres no hastle to it at all.

That sounds like a plan,.
what kit do you use to mash with?
I built my own rig for consistency so my beer is the same every time.

I haven't done any comps that wernt just for fun tbh, id love to be a beer judge though, I'm not sure theres any local comps near me either.
You say you want it to be better, what would make it better ?

Errrm beer in general tbh,I do like British and Belgian styles most id say, but as long as its wet and alcoholic it'l do.

No i dont bother tbh, im about mid 70's each time, so theres no need to change it.
It doesn't take long to build a profile and you only need to set it once.

Ive been using BeerSmith for years now with consistent results, I think the key is to know what the numbers mean to you're palate.
Can you explain why the results were debatable ?
