My first bit of advice, especially if you are using any pressurised vessels or kegs, keep spares of the seals and the small components that can and will fail at some point. So far I've needed to replace one rubber seal on a corny keg but without having a spare I would have had a flat beer and would have had to waste more time and effort re-carbonating it before I could enjoy it.
I also had a dodgy seal on the tap of one of my Wilko's wide neck 25L fermenting vessel which started to leak as soon as I filled it with the hot wort and tightening it just made it worse luckily I had bought a spare tap and seal as it was on sale and replaced it while carefully laying the vessel on its side so It didn't all flow out the hole in the side where the tap goes. as you can imagine there were a few choice words said out loud (as I was spilling beer all over the kitchen floor). So I say again keep spares if its cheap get two of them.
Got a question or suggestion please post it on the Beer Forum.
